Momigami Boro Collage

Momigami Boro Collage Workshop
October 29th, 2024
4pm - 6:30pm CDT
Live online interactive workshop on Zoom

In Momigami Boro Collage, we’ll combine traditional Momigami techniques with the concept of boroboro, adding a contemporary spin on an ancient craft.

Being true to the Japanese philosophy of “waste nothing”, while elevating humble scraps and tattered remnants into a functional art form, we’ll gather and review a variety of materials, for use in collage.

From traditional long grain mulberry papers, magazine pages and junk mail catalogs, to salvaged materials, and vintage ephemera, this course will inspire you to bring it all to the table to create work that can be simple and strong, or layered and complex, in its design.

Techniques Covered:
• A review of creating the traditional paste for use in Momigami
• A review of a variety of papers suitable for this process
• Application of the traditional paste in composing additional fodder
• Composing collage works with simple layouts.
• Composing layers in collage.
• Displaying finished works.

This workshop includes:
• Live 2.5 hours of interactive instruction on Zoom
• Access to the recordings for six months after workshop ends.
• Ability to download recordings if you wish to keep them.
