Learn the ancient Japanese craft of kneading paper known as Momigami, as you dive into both the traditional, and the contemporary method, to produce tantalizing texture and interesting surface designs with paper.

Each very distinct from the other, I'll walk you through the ins and outs of both methods and inspire you with unique applications for each one.

From traditional long grain mulberry papers, magazine pages and junk mail catalogs, to salvaged paper bags, and vintage ephemera, this course will inspire you to create kneaded papers with textured, tactile, interesting surfaces for use in your own collage and mixed media designs.

In Momigami Boro collage, we’ll combine traditional Momigami techniques with the concept of boroboro, adding a contemporary spin on an ancient craft.

Being true to the Japanese philosophy of “waste nothing”, while elevating humble scraps and tattered remnants into a functional art form, we’ll gather and review a variety of materials, for use in collage.
